For almost 70 years, Flexible Metal has continuously engaged in the expert design, development, and manufacturing of metal bellows and specialized tubular assemblies. The company is an approved Tier 1 supplier to the major automotive, engine, and heavy equipment manufacturers of on-highway and off-highway vehicles.
After 50 years as Flexible Metal Hose, the company was purchased by Hyspan Precision Products Inc in 2004. Renamed Flexible Metal, this expansion permitted the team to increase its capability to produce high volume tubular and flexible products such as internal combustion engine components and exhaust systems for on- and off-highway heavy vehicles, diesel agricultural engines, military vehicles, and many other applications including fuel cells and gas turbines.
The company’s capability and capacity were expanded in 2010 with the purchase of Metaldyne Tubular Products in Hamburg, Michigan. Metaldyne Tubular brought more than 40 years of expertise in the design and high-volume manufacturing of engine exhaust system components specializing in tubular manifolds, stamped manifolds, air gap manifolds, and double wall tubing and stamped assemblies into the fold.
In order to better serve the European requirements of Flexible Metal’s customers, Flexible Metal s.r.o. was established in 2015 in Prague 9 of the Czech Republic.

Hyspan was founded in 1968 with comprehensive engineering, quality and production capability to design, develop and fabricate metal bellows and hoses; and assemblies and products that incorporate these components. These technical strengths have been combined with sound management skills to develop proprietary products, and to acquire related products and companies to form an organization of six subsidiaries and divisions.
These organizations produce a complete line of flexible tubular products that meet the needs of diverse industries ranging from scientific research to oil refining. Hyspan’s headquarters in Chula Vista, California provides financial services, corporate management and corporate engineering for all locations. It also manufactures custom designed expansion joints, prototype bellows products, and defense products.
In 1998 Hyspan formed a wholly owned subsidiary, Hyspan de Mexico, located near Tijuana, Mexico. The company is classified as a maquiladora manufacturing plant which permits raw material and component parts to be transferred to and from the plant on a duty-free basis, and qualifies the plant’s products under NAFTA. Hyspan de Mexico has complete bellows fabrication, machining, welding and testing capability.
